Retrieve/CRSP [Dartmouth College]

Retrieve is a front-end application, written for use with the SASstatistical software system. It analyzes and downloads the data fromCRSP, Compustat, and other financial databases quickly and easily. Thisworkstation-to-mainframe interface application allows users to selectsubsets of the mainframe databases and download those subsets in a formusable by other workstation applications. No knowledge of SAS ormainframes is required. Users simply point and click on the database theywould like to use, and the software handles the details of locating thedata on the mainframe. Statistical and graphical procedures are availableto aid users in selecting the portion of the database they wish toaccess. Users can retrieve the data in a format compatible with mostspreadsheets, word processors, and statistics packages on theirworkstation.
